Q: Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Bemidji, Minn., with five siblings and graduated from Bemidji High School, as did my dad. I’m also a proud graduate of Bemidji State University.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, camping, sitting around the campfire making s’mores and listening to episodes of “Ranger Bill,” an old-time radio show, biking, reading, doing puzzles, playing bingo, going to plays, both locally and in the Twin Cities and watching TV and movies with my husband, James.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

The Minnesota Vikings. Though we devoted fans have been disappointed year after year, I remain optimistic they will advance to another Super Bowl in my lifetime.

Q: What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Growing up, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I think because I was fortunate to have several great teachers and I wanted to grow up to be just like them.  After my first year at BSU, my career path changed to accounting and business administration and later to psychology. Instead of a teaching degree, I graduated in 1991 with a bachelor of science in applied psychology: human services with emphases in agency management, family & community health, gerontology and gerontology long-term care administration. I also received minors in data processing, business administration and psychology.
